Evidence Based Therapy Partners

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”

-Maya Angelou

Our Approach

EBTP was founded by a team of female psychologists dedicated to providing high-fidelity evidence-based treatment to teens, adults, and couples. We seek to create a compassionate and nurturing environment while exercising precision and clarity in our delivery of data-driven therapies. Using scientifically based assessments and regular outcome measures, our staff is diligent in making sure that you achieve your goals. Treatment plans and goals are created collaboratively as our clinicians value a “consultant-to-the-patient” approach. This approach assumes that a patient is the expert on their lives and therapy is most effective when driven by the values of the patient. We believe individuals can be given tools to reduce suffering and build meaningful lives without relying long-term on a therapist. As such, therapy at EBTP typically lasts between 3 and 12 months.

Why Lemons?!?

There's a well-known saying that DBT practitioners have adopted; "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade."  At EBTP, we believe that life is more about how we respond to our struggles and less about trying to avoid having the struggle.  In other words, pain is a normal and expected part of the human experience. We seek to help people learn how to accept this reality, compassionately, while still seeking to make the changes that will make life more full, rich, and meaningful.  Hence, the lemons.

In-person and remote options

EBTP can be conveniently found in Southern California and Chicago. Although we are geographically diverse, our team collaborates across all our offices in order to provide all of our patients with the best care. Can’t make it into the office? No worries – we’ve got you covered with telehealth.

“I did not know….that I was supposed to feel everything. I thought I was supposed to feel happy. I thought that happy was for feeling and that pain was for fixing and numbing and deflecting and hiding and ignoring. …Feelings are for feeling.”

— Glennon Doyle
